When traveling, food is always an important part of our bucket list of things to try in our city. We have dozens of places where we want to go, but we only try a few. Stockholm offers a plethora of attractions and cultural wonders; one must recognize the vibrant and diverse culinary scene it has to offer. Below, find the five places we managed to try out in Stockholm and absolutely recommend.

In this blog post, you can find the recommendations for the following places to try out:

  1. Glassverkstan Skeppsholmsbron (ice cream)
  2. Hermans Tradgardscafe (vegan)
  3. Glam stan Hof (Swedish meatballs)
  4. Saluhall (Market)
  5. Hard Rock Cafe

  • Location: Västra Brobänken, 111 49 Stockholm (59,32602° N, 18,08045° E). Not sure, though, if they are not moving around as it is a truck, but this is where we found it.
  • Food:  ice creak of various flavors, all handmade and delicious, no matter which flavor.
  • Service: excellent.
  • Overall vibe:  great, as the location next to the water calls for an ice cream.

Waddling around on the picturesque Skeppsholmsbron, we found this amazing ice cream truck, which will give you an extraordinary ice cream experience. Glassverkstan Skeppsholmsbron looked so delicious that we couldn’t resist. With its wide range of flavors and craftsmanship, it is a must. They take great pride in crafting ice cream with the utmost dedication and care. It’s a small one-person operation; you can taste it in every lick. Each batch is made from the finest ingredients, ensuring superior quality and taste that sets their ice cream apart. Prepare your taste buds for a delightful journey. We appreciated as well the many vegan options they had and tasted extraordinary. So, if you are searching for ice cream in Stockholm, find this little truck because every bite is pure bliss from the first lick to the last. And apart from ice cream, you can also get here waffles and coffee. This is the only truck we need in our life 😃.

  • Location: Fjällgatan, 116 28 Stockholm (59,31766° N, 18,08392° E) Although it is a little further from the immediate city center, the view up here is worth the waddle.
  • Food: all-you-can-eat delicious vegan food.
  • Service: self-service
  • Overall vibe: great, felt very homey with tasty food

This beloved vegetarian restaurant offers a unique combination of delicious plant-based cuisine, a vibrant atmosphere, and breathtaking views. Whether you’re a vegetarian, vegan, or simply looking to explore a new culinary world, Hermans Trädgårdscafé is a haven that promises a memorable and fulfilling dining experience. From wholesome salads bursting with fresh ingredients to hearty mains and mouthwatering desserts, every dish is thoughtfully prepared to offer a satisfying and nourishing experience for both body and mind. Situated on a hill in the trendy Södermalm district gives you a breathtaking view of Stockholm’s skyline and the picturesque Riddarfjärden Bay. Whether you dine indoors or soak up the sun on the spacious outdoor terrace, the panoramic vistas create a tranquil and enchanting ambiance that enhances your dining experience. We especially enjoyed the restaurant’s cozy interior, adorned with plants and colorful decorations, which exuded warmth and community. Whether you’re a vegetarian or simply curious about exploring plant-based options, a visit to Hermans Trädgårdscafé promises to be an unforgettable journey into the world of vegetarian gastronomy. We were pleasantly surprised by how tasty the food was. Also, the overall concept is great – you pay at the counter and sell yourself how much you want. It is also a great budget-friendly option to get food in Stockholm. Only the cakes are paid extra or any beverages like soft drinks, but water, tea, and coffee are included in the price.

  • Location: Skräddargränd, 111 27 Stockholm (59,32415° N, 18,06936° E) You can find it in the historical center of Glam Stan, meaning the location is excellent.
  • Food: Great, tasty, but nothing extraordinary.
  • Service: Good, the waiter was quite prompt.
  • Overall vibe: It is in the busy center, so when sitting outside like we did, you will have people waddling around.

As mentioned, Glam Stan Hof is located in the city’s heart. We were searching to eat the famous Swedish meatballs, the one dish to try in Sweden, and they had it on their menu. Not trying meatballs while in Sweden sounds like a sin. Apart from the traditional Swedish meatballs, they also draw inspiration from international cuisines. Their dishes are crafted to create a harmonious blend of flavors. At the same time, they pride themselves on their commitment to using high-quality ingredients from local producers whenever possible—the mentioned meatballs they offered were even part of a daily menu with many other dishes. We grabbed the last table and waited to enjoy it. Our food came in a reasonable time, and the meatballs had an interesting serving. It tasted good, and what we appreciated was that although located at Glam Stan, their prices are great. Also, as a budget traveler, you can eat here without compromising quality for price.

  • Location: Humlegårdsgatan, 114 46 Stockholm (59,33601° N, 18,07782° E). The location is great, and you will probably waddle here anyway while visiting Stockholm.
  • Food: everything your soul desires. It is a market, after all.
  • Service: self-service.
  • Overall vibe: Amazing as you got to experience the local vice.

If you consider yourself a food enthusiast or an adventurous gastronome, visiting Saluhall in Stockholm is an absolute must. It is a marketplace; you will find everything there. Saluhall is a haven for food lovers. Whether you’re a fan of Thai spices or French pastries, Saluhall caters to all tastes, ensuring a delightful fusion of culinary experiences under one roof. Beyond the incredible food offerings, Saluhall provides an immersive cultural experience. It is committed to promoting sustainable food practices and supporting local producers. Many vendors prioritize organic and locally sourced ingredients, ensuring their offerings’ highest quality and freshness. See how our waddle around Saluhall went here

  • Location: Sveavägen, 113 50 Stockholm (59,34415° N, 18,05528° E) It’s further away from the historic center and attractions, so you might need to plan a visit.
  • Food: American-style food, hamburgers, fries, etc.
  • Service: Average. We had to wait a little.
  • Overall vibe: Average.

The Hard Rock Cafe does not need much introductions. We chose it as a last resort on our way to the train station. A franchise like this is good because you can expect the same quality and type of food regardless of city. We had a burger and some beers, which did not disappoint or surprise us. We must note that this was our first time visiting a Hard Rock Cafe, although we also roamed the U.S. a few years back. As mentioned, if you are looking for something where you want to avoid being surprised, then it is a place to go and grab a burger and fries. It was good, but something we would recommend only recommend somewhat.

From cozy cafes serving freshly baked pastries to fine dining establishments pushing the boundaries of gastronomy, Stockholm caters to all tastes and preferences. What makes Stockholm’s food scene truly remarkable is its commitment to quality and sustainability. It is intertwined with the city’s history, culture, and vibrant atmosphere. There were many more restaurants we wanted to try out but only had so much time to do so, but we hope you get to try out at least some of what we recommend. If we had to choose one place where to send you it would be Hermans Tradgardscafe

Waddle on and enjoy Stockholm!
