This Privacy Policy describes how Lifeguin (the “Site”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and discloses your personal information when you visit or use our services at www.lifeguin.com (the “Site”) or otherwise communicate with us (collectively, the “Services”). For purposes of this Privacy Policy, “you” and “your” mean you as the user of the services, whether you are a website visitor, a newsletter subscriber, or another individual whose information we have collected pursuant to this Privacy Policy.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using and accessing any of the services, you agree to the collection, use, and disclosure of your information as described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to this Privacy Policy, please do not use or access any of the services.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, including to reflect changes to our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will post the revised Privacy Policy on the Site, update the “Last updated” date, and take any other steps required by applicable law.

How We Collect and Use Your Personal Information

To provide the Services, we collect and have collected over the past 12 months personal information about you from various sources, as set out below. The information that we collect and use varies depending on how you interact with us. In addition to the specific uses set out below, we may use information we collect about you to communicate with you, provide the Services, comply with any applicable legal obligations, enforce any relevant terms of service, and to protect or defend the Services, our rights, and the rights of our users or others.

What Personal Information We Collect

The types of personal information we obtain about you depend on how you interact with our Site and use our services. When we use the term “personal information”, we refer to information that identifies, relates to, describes, or is associated with you. The following sections describe the categories and specific types of personal information we collect. 

Contact Forms. When you contact us through a form on our Site, we collect the information you provide (such as your name, email address, and message) solely for the purpose of responding to your inquiry. By submitting a contact form, you consent to our processing of your personal data in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect Directly from You

Information that you directly submit to us through our Services may include:

• Basic contact details, including your name, address, phone number, and email.
• Customer support information, including the information you choose to include in communications with us, for example, when sending a message through the services.

Some features of the services require you to directly provide us with certain information about yourself. You may elect not to provide this; some features of the services require you to provide us with certain information about yourself directly. You may elect not to provide this information, but doing so may prevent you from using or accessing these features.

Direct Marketing. We may use your personal information to send you newsletters, marketing or promotional materials, and other information regarding our travel services, upcoming workshops, or affiliate partnerships that may be of interest to you.

Opting Out. You may opt out of receiving any or all of these marketing communications from us by following the ‘unsubscribe’ link or instructions provided in any email we send, or by contacting us directly at [email protected].

Information We Collect through Cookies

We also automatically collect certain information about your interaction with the Services (“Usage Data”). To do this, we may use cookies, pixels, and similar technologies (“Cookies”). Usage Data may include information about how you access and use our Site and your account, including device information, browser information, information about your network connection, your IP address, and other information regarding your interaction with the services.

Information We Obtain from Third Parties

Finally, we may obtain information about you from third parties, including from vendors and service providers who may collect information on our behalf, such as:

• Companies that support our Site and services, such as OVH (our web host, France), Brevo (our newsletter provider, France), or WordPress.
• When you visit our Site, open or click on emails we send you, or interact with our Services or advertisements, we, or third parties we work with, may automatically collect certain information using online tracking technologies such as pixels, web beacons, software developer kits, third-party libraries, and cookies.

Any information we obtain from third parties will be treated in accordance with this Privacy Policy. We are not responsible or liable for the accuracy of information provided to us by third parties, nor for any third party’s policies or practices.

How We Use Your Personal Information

Providing our Services. We use your personal information to provide the Services you ask for, such as sending you the newsletter you signed up for and answering your messages.

Marketing and Advertising. We use your personal information for marketing and promotional purposes, such as sending marketing, advertising, and promotional communications by email, text message, or postal mail, and showing you advertisements for products or services. This may include using your personal information to better tailor the Services and advertising on our Site and other websites.

Security and Fraud Prevention. We use your personal information to detect, investigate, or take action regarding possible fraudulent, illegal, or malicious activity. If you choose to use the services, you are responsible for keeping your credentials safe. We highlyrecommend that you do not share your username, password, or other access details with anyone else. If you believe your account has been compromised, please contact us immediately.

Communicating with you. We use your personal information to provide you with customer support and improve our services. It is in our legitimate interests to be responsive to you, provide effective services, and maintain our business relationship with you.

Most browsers automatically accept Cookies by default, but you can choose to set your browser to remove or reject Cookies through your browser controls. Please keep in mind that removing or blocking Cookies can negatively impact your user experience and may cause some services, including certain features and general functionality, to work incorrectly or become unavailable. Additionally, blocking Cookies may not completely prevent how we share information with third parties, such as our advertising partners.

Analytics and Tracking Technologies

We also invited a few third-party friends to the party. They help us understand what works on this site and earn a small commission when you book something amazing through our links. They are all well-behaved — the marketing ones are blocked by default and only let in after you say yes via the cookie banner. Change your mind any time via the cookie preferences panel (no hard feelings).

Statistics (no cookies, no consent needed)

• Cloudflare Web Analytics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and see which content is read. It is cookieless: it sets nothing on your device, builds no profile of you, does not track you across other websites, and is not used for advertising. Because it stores nothing on your device and does not identify you, it needs no consent. Google Analytics was removed from this site in August 2026. Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
• Cookie choices. We count how many visitors accept or reject cookies on the banner, as daily totals on our own server. Nothing is stored on your device for this, and no IP address or anything else about you is kept — only the day’s numbers.

Marketing & Affiliate Tracking (marketing cookies — requires your consent)

• GetYourGuide. Some pages on this site include tour and activity booking widgets provided by GetYourGuide. When active, the GetYourGuide script keeps our partner code in your browser’s storage (partner_id) to track affiliate referrals and measure conversions. • Travelpayouts (Emerald). We participate in the Travelpayouts affiliate programme (publisher account 423133), which provides affiliate links to travel services such as flights, hotels, and tours. When active, the Travelpayouts Emerald script (served from emrld.cc) and the Travelpayouts booking boxes may set cookies (such as _sp_id and _sp_ses on this site and nuid on avsplow.com, Snowplow analytics by Aviasales) to count visits and clicks and attribute commissions. • Klook. Some posts about Asia show a Klook booking box for tours and activities, through Travelpayouts. When active, it loads from klook.com and sets Klook’s own cookies, including Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _gid) on klook.com. Data is processed by Klook Travel Technology Limited, Hong Kong. • Trip.com. Some posts show a Trip.com hotel search box, through Travelpayouts. When active, it loads from trip.com and sets Trip.com’s own cookie (suid on tripcdn.com). Data is processed by Trip.com Travel Singapore Pte. Ltd., Singapore. Trip.com Privacy Notice.
• Booking.com. Some posts show Booking.com’s own hotel box, through Travelpayouts. When active, it loads from booking.com and sets Booking.com’s own cookies (bkng, OptanonConsent and aws-waf-token on booking.com). Data is processed by Booking.com B.V., the Netherlands. Videos, maps and social posts (nothing loads until you ask or accept). Videos from YouTube and TikTok, maps from Google Maps and Mapy.com, and posts from Instagram are shown as a placeholder: nothing is loaded from those services until you press the button on it, or until you accept marketing cookies — then they load by themselves as you scroll. Once one loads, that service receives your IP address and may set its own cookies, under its own privacy policy: Google Maps (Google Ireland Limited) sets NID on google.com; Mapy.com (Seznam.cz, a.s., Czech Republic) sets __gfp_s_64b on mapy.com and counts the visit with Gemius (Gdyn, Gdynp and Gtest on hit.gemius.pl); TikTok (TikTok Technology Limited, Ireland) sets ttwid, msToken and cookie-consent; YouTube videos play from youtube-nocookie.com (Google); Instagram posts come from Meta Platforms Ireland Limited. The interactive maps on the homepage and the continent pages load a map library from amCharts (cdn.amcharts.com); it sets no cookies. This site’s own pages do not use Google Fonts.

Some of these tools process data outside the European Union. Where GDPR requires it, appropriate safeguards are in place (standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission — fancy words for “we checked, it is fine”).

Legal Bases for Processing

We process your personal information only where we have a lawful basis to do so, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including:

• Performance of a contract, for example, providing the services you ask for and answering your messages.
• Consent, for example, to send newsletters, marketing communications, or promotional materials where you have opted in.
• Legitimate interests, for example, improving and optimizing our services, ensuring website security, preventing fraud, and conducting analytics, provided that your data protection rights do not override such interests.
• Legal obligations, for example, complying with accounting, tax, and other applicable legal requirements.

How We Disclose Personal Information

In certain circumstances, we may disclose your personal information to third parties for legitimate purposes subject to this Privacy Policy. Such circumstances may include:

• With vendors or other third parties who perform services on our behalf (e.g., IT management, web hosting, data analytics, customer support, and cloud storage).
• With business and marketing partners, we will provide services and advertise to you.
• Our business and marketing partners will use your information in accordance with their own privacy notices.
• When you direct, request us, or otherwise consent to our disclosure of certain information to third parties, such as through your use of social media widgets or login integrations, with your consent.
• With our affiliates or otherwise within our group, in our legitimate interests to run a successful business.
• In connection with a business transaction such as a merger or bankruptcy, to comply with any applicable legal obligations (including to respond to subpoenas, search warrants, and similar requests), to enforce any applicable terms of service, and to protect or defend the services, our rights, and the rights of our users or others.

We have, in the past 12 months, disclosed the following categories of personal information and sensitive personal information (denoted by *) about users for the purposes set out above in “How we Collect and Use your Personal Information” and “How we Disclose Personal Information” category:

We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for inferring characteristics about you.

User Generated Content

The services may enable you to post product reviews and other user-generated content. If you choose to submit user-generated content to any public area of the Services, it will be public and accessible to anyone.

We do not control who will have access to the information that you choose to make available to others, and we cannot ensure that parties who have access to such information will respect your privacy or keep it secure. We are not responsible for the privacy or security of any information that you make publicly available, or for the accuracy, use, or misuse of any information that you disclose or receive from third parties.

Third Party Websites and Links

Our Site may provide links to websites or other online platforms operated by third parties. If you follow links to sites not affiliated or controlled by us, you should review their privacy and security policies and other terms and conditions. We do not guarantee, and are not responsible for, the privacy or security of such sites, including the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of information found on them. Information you provide on public or semi-public venues, including information you share on third-party social networking platforms, may also be viewable by other users of the Services and/or users of those third-party platforms without limitation as to its use by a third party or by us. Our inclusion of such links does not, by itself, imply any endorsement of the content on such platforms or of their owners or operators, except as disclosed on the services.

Children’s Data

The Services are not intended to be used by children, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information about children. If you are the parent or guardian of a child who has provided us with their personal information, you may contact us using the email [email protected]  or below via the form.

As of the Effective Date of this Privacy Policy, we do not have actual knowledge that we “share” or “sell” (as those terms are defined in applicable law) personal information of individuals under 16 years of age.

Security and Retention of Your Information

Please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee “perfect security.” In addition, any information you send to us may not be secure while in transit. We recommend that you do not use insecure channels to communicate sensitive or confidential information to us.

• Right to object, to object to the processing of your personal data, including for direct marketing purposes.
• Right to data portability, to request a copy of your personal data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format, and to have it transferred to another controller where technically feasible.
• Right to withdraw consent, to withdraw your consent at any time where processing is based on consent, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
• Right to lodge a complaint, with a supervisory authority in your country of residence or in Slovakia if you believe your data protection rights have been violated.

Data Retention

We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

International Data Transfers
Some of our service providers may process personal data outside the European Union. Where this occurs, we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place, such as standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.

Newsletter (Brevo)

If you subscribe to our newsletter, “Waddle With Us”, we keep your email address, your first name if you give it, and the details of your sign-up: which of our sites, form and page you signed up on, the website or our own link that brought you there when we know it, the language, the version of the sign-up wording you saw, and when you confirmed. They are stored by Brevo (Sendinblue SAS, France, in the European Union) as our processor, solely to send you the emails you asked for, and are never sold or published.

Our sign-up form and pop-up send your details from our own server to Brevo: no third-party script and no cookie are involved. You are added only after you click the confirmation link we email you (double opt-in). To stop the form being misused, our server keeps a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address for one hour. Brevo counts clicks on links in the newsletter, and counts opens only for readers who have agreed to that. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email, on our website at lifeguin.com/newsletter/unsubscribe (no email needed: the address is taken off the list and marked as unsubscribed at once), or by writing to [email protected].

Until 27 September 2026 the newsletter was sent with Mailchimp (Intuit Inc., United States). If you subscribed before then, your subscription was moved to Brevo together with the record Mailchimp kept of your sign-up (when you confirmed and the IP address used), as proof of your consent. Mailchimp held the old list until we closed that account.

International Transfers

Our web hosting is in the European Union: the Site runs on a server operated by OVH SAS in Dunkirk, France. Our newsletter provider, Brevo, stores data in the European Union. Our CDN and analytics provider, Cloudflare, stores data in the United States; so did Mailchimp, which held the list of people who subscribed before 27 September 2026, until we closed that account. These transfers are protected by the safeguards in Chapter V of the GDPR – the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. You can ask us for a copy of the relevant safeguard. The legal basis for the newsletter is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

The data controller responsible for your personal data under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is Filip Ponik (contact [email protected]). The Lifeguin website is created and operated by Mária Poníková; for data-protection purposes, the controller who decides how your personal data is used is Filip Ponik, based in Slovakia.
