After exploring the fortress above Dubrovnik, we decided to waddle all the way down the famous serpentine road, a winding path made of sharp switchbacks that connects Mount Srđ with the Old Town and has been used for decades as a dramatic access route with nonstop views over the Adriatic. Along the way, we passed one of the Stations of the Cross, including Dubrovnik Stations of the Cross XIII, which marks part of the historic pilgrimage path up the hill. Of course, we couldn’t resist leaving a few penguin stones on the descent, one of many we left waddling down.
