At Skopje Fortress, we visited one of the towers and explored the surrounding area. The fortress actually has several defensive towers built to protect the stronghold and provide wide views over the city and the Vardar River valley. Each one was strategically placed, and you can still feel that old defensive layout as you waddle along the walls today. We ended up hiding our penguin stone close to this particular tower, right where the stone paths meet the old walls, making it a quiet little stop with a great view over Skopje.
