We actually didn’t arrive in time for the check-in ourselves, but based on what our family members told us, the whole process was quick and straightforward. Everything was arranged in advance, so there was no need to wait for someone to hand over the keys. The owners unlocked the cabin remotely, and all the instructions had already been shared beforehand.
It felt like a modern way of checking in, but at the same time it was easy and stress-free. Even though no one greeted us in person, everything worked exactly as it should, so we could simply arrive, unpack, and start enjoying the weekend.

Cabin on the Edge of the Forest is designed for groups of up to 10 guests. It has five bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom. When you’re staying with a larger group, this makes a huge difference as nobody has to queue for the shower in the morning. Besides the bedrooms, the cabin also has a large open-plan living room with a fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen with a dining area, and a separate toilet. Outside, you’ll find a terrace, gazebo, barbecue, fire pit, hot tub, infrared sauna, and plenty of space to relax together.

Each bedroom comes with towels, bathrobes, and hangers, so the basics are already waiting for you when you arrive. We also liked the mattresses, which had a firmer feel and were comfortable to sleep on. The pillows, on the other hand, were quite soft, so if you prefer more support, you might find them a bit too flat. One thing to keep in mind is that the bathrooms don’t provide shower gel or shampoo, so you’ll need to bring your own toiletries. We also missed having a small bath mat or floor towel outside the shower, as the floor became quite wet after showering. In the bedroom itself, we would have appreciated a chair or luggage stand to place clothes or a suitcase on, rather than using the floor. They’re small details, but they would make the rooms even more practical for guests staying a few days.

The Common Area

One of our favorite parts of the cabin was the large common area. This is where we spent most of our time together, whether chatting, playing games, or simply relaxing after a day out. The fireplace made the room feel even cozier in the evening and became the place where everyone naturally gathered. If you want to warm up or unwind after a day outdoors, the cabin also has an infrared sauna available.

There is also a large dining table that fits 10 people, so we could all eat together instead of splitting into smaller groups. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare your own meals, including an oven, stovetop, dishwasher, microwave, coffee machine, and basic cookware. One thing we appreciated was the owner’s approach. Before our stay, we noticed there wasn’t a coffee machine listed among the amenities, so we reached out to ask about it. By the time we arrived, they had already bought one, which we thought was a really nice gesture and showed they genuinely care about their guests’ experience. One feature we didn’t expect but ended up using a lot was the ice maker, which was especially handy for cold drinks during the warmer days.

We cooked several meals during our stay without any major issues. That said, there are a few things we think could be improved, especially for larger groups. There are only a few barstools around the kitchen island, so not everyone can sit there while cooking or chatting. We also found the fridge a bit small for ten people staying several days, especially after a big grocery shop. The kitchen had only two large knives, and both were quite dull, making food preparation more difficult than it needed to be. We also felt there could be more cutlery available, as we found ourselves running the dishwasher more often than expected.

Another one of our favorite features was the terrace that wraps around the cabin. We found ourselves out there several times throughout the day, whether with a morning coffee, chatting after dinner, or simply enjoying the peaceful surroundings. There was always a spot to sit, and because the terrace extends around the cabin, everyone could spread out and enjoy the fresh air without feeling crowded.

The Outdoor Area

The outdoor area is set up just as well as the cabin’s interior, giving everyone plenty of space to spend time together. There’s a gas grill for preparing lunch or dinner, a fire pit for evening chats, and a gazebo with seating where you can escape the sun or enjoy a meal outside. The hot tub became one of the most popular spots during our stay, especially after a day of exploring the area. If you prefer something a little more relaxing, there’s also an infrared sauna. Whether you’re having breakfast on the terrace, grilling in the evening, or ending the day in the hot tub, the outdoor space is a big part of what makes staying here so enjoyable.

For our stay from Thursday to Sunday, we paid €360 per night for the entire cabin. With ten people sharing the cost, we thought it offered very good value. Each bedroom has its own private bathroom, and the price includes access to the hot tub, infrared sauna, large common area, terrace, and all outdoor facilities.

There are a few things we’d improve, such as a larger fridge, sharper kitchen knives, more cutlery, and a few extra touches in the bedrooms and bathrooms. Even with those small points, we’d happily stay here again. We also mentioned it to the hostess, so by the time you book it, it might be fixed. If you’re visiting with a larger family or a group of friends, it’s a place where you get a lot for your money.

★★★☆☆

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay at Cabin on the Edge of the Forest. It has everything you need for a comfortable weekend with family or friends, from the private bathrooms in every bedroom to the large common area where everyone naturally gathers. We also spent a lot of time on the terrace, in the hot tub, and around the outdoor seating, which made the stay even more enjoyable.
There are a few things we’d improve, such as adding a larger fridge, sharper kitchen knives, more cutlery, and a few extra touches in the bedrooms and bathrooms. These are all relatively small changes, though, and none of them took away from our overall experience.
If you’re looking for a place where a larger group can stay together, cook, relax, and explore eastern Slovakia, we’d happily recommend Cabin on the Edge of the Forest. It’s the kind of place where you can slow down, enjoy each other’s company, and make the most of a weekend away.
