High above the Sri Lankan jungle, Sigiriya, often called the Eighth Wonder of the World, stands as one of the country’s most iconic archaeological sites. This ancient rock fortress, built by King Kashyapa in the 5th century AD, rises nearly 200 meters and offers sweeping views that once protected an entire royal city. An interesting fact: the mirror wall along the climb still carries old visitor inscriptions from over a thousand years ago, making it one of the world’s oldest “guestbooks.” At the very top, among the weathered ruins of the former palace, a little secret now rests. During his Sri Lankan adventure, Prabha Karan carried one of the penguin stones all the way up the Lion Rock peak, and tucked it safely among the stones and ancient foundations, giving this legendary site a tiny modern treasure waiting to be found.
