Geyerturm in Salzburg is one of those quiet medieval corners that most travelers walk past without realizing its long history. Built as part of the city’s fortifications, the tower once protected one of the main entrances into the old town, and an interesting fact is that its name comes from the German word Geier (vulture), likely referencing the birds that circled the cliffs nearby. Today it’s a peaceful spot overlooking the Salzach River and if you look closely, you might even spot a tiny surprise of ours. We left a penguin stone here (#400), tucked discreetly near the tower, waiting for another curious explorer to discover it.
