Matka Canyon, outside Skopje, is one of the most breathtaking natural spots in the country, and it’s not something you can skip when visiting the area. The canyon is known for its deep limestone cliffs, turquoise water, and peaceful hiking trails, making it one of the top nature escapes close to the capital, so we highly recommend adding it to your trip. While walking towards the boat cruise area, we stopped at several viewpoints along the rocky path, each offering amazing views over the canyon. At one particular stop, we left a penguin stone hidden inside a small hole in the rocks, so you actually have to look closely to find it.
