Vrelo Cave in Matka Canyon is famous for its underwater system of lakes and passages. Although its exact depth is still not fully confirmed, it is widely considered one of the deepest underwater caves in Europe, with explored depths reaching around 230 meters. Ongoing speleological research suggests it could be even deeper. Vrelo Cave also contains impressive stalactite and stalagmite formations that have developed over thousands of years, slowly shaped by dripping mineral-rich water. One of its most unique features is its underground lake system, where the water stays crystal clear and extremely still, creating almost mirror-like reflections inside the cave chambers. In this extraordinary environment, we decided to leave our golden penguin stone, adding a small hidden marker to one of the most mysterious natural places near Skopje. It is outside as you will enter the cave, not in the actual cave.
