Zlaté Piesky is one of Bratislava’s favourite escape spots, built around a former gravel pit that is filled with clear groundwater. In summer, locals come here to swim, paddle, play beach volleyball, try water sports, or chill by the shore with a cold drink, all just a short tram ride from the city. When winter arrives, and the lake freezes over, the atmosphere shifts completely as brave visitors (like us) gather for cold plunges and icy dips, turning the same place into a hub for wellness rituals and winter swimming. So, of course, while freezing, we also took up the opportunity to hide a penguin stone here.
