Our trip to Cyprus was one of those spontaneous decisions that turned out better than planned. We didn’t have weeks to explore, just three full days in Paphos, but we made the most of every moment. From wandering through ancient ruins and hidden tombs to relaxing on sun-kissed beaches, these few days gave us a real taste of what makes this coastal city so special. That said, three days in Paphos definitely aren’t enough to see it all; there’s so much more to uncover across the region. If you can, stay longer and give yourself time to slow down and soak it all in. But even if you’re short on time, don’t worry, with a little planning, you can fit in plenty of history, views, and beach time. Read on to see what we did, how we explored, and how you can make the most of a short but memorable waddle through Paphos.

We arrived in Paphos the evening before on a later flight, so after checking in and getting a good night’s sleep, we were ready to start fresh. On our first full day, we woke up early to enjoy breakfast and make the most of the morning light. With the sun slowly warming the streets, we set off toward the archaeological sites of Paphos, excited to dive straight into the city’s fascinating history.

#1: Paphos Archaeological Park

We started our first morning at the Paphos Archaeological Park, one of the city’s most impressive sites and a must for anyone who loves history. The area is truly vast, filled with ancient ruins, mosaics, and stories from centuries past. One small tip: start early if you plan to visit. Even in October, the sun gets strong quickly, and there’s very little shade once you’re inside. To dive deeper into what we saw and the highlights we uncovered, check out our full post, Uncovering Ancient Wonders in Paphos Archaeological Park.

#2: Paphos Municipal Market

From the Archaeological Park, we hopped on a short bus ride that took us straight into the city center, where we explored the Paphos Municipal Market (also known as Agora). Initially established in the 1930s, this market has long been the heart of local trade and community life in Paphos. Recently renovated, it now blends its traditional charm with a more modern vibe. Inside, you’ll find a mix of souvenir shops, clothing stalls, and small boutiques, along with a few cozy cafés where locals gather for a morning coffee. It’s a fun and colorful place to wander around, soak up the atmosphere, and maybe pick up a little something to remember your trip by.

#3: Wandering Through Paphos Old Town

After exploring the market, we kept waddling through the charming Paphos Old Town, where narrow streets twist between colorful buildings and small artisan shops. The area has a lovely mix of old and new, restored houses now home to cafés, galleries, and boutiques, while a few corners still keep that quiet, local feel. As the temperature started to rise, we stopped for a refreshing scoop of ice cream, which we can only highly recommend on a sunny Paphos afternoon. The Old Town is also known for its street art and creative vibe, making it a perfect spot to slow down, wander aimlessly, and soak up the city’s character.

#4: Paphos Town Hall

From the Old Town, we continued our waddle toward the Paphos Town Hall, one of the most elegant buildings in the city. Surrounded by a small square and palm trees, it adds a bit of neoclassical charm to the heart of Paphos. Built in the 1950s, the Town Hall is part of a trio of civic buildings that symbolize the city’s modern era, alongside the library and the district administration office. It’s a peaceful spot to pause, snap a few photos, and enjoy the contrast between the old historic lanes and this graceful architectural landmark.

#5: Lunch by the Sea & a Relaxing Afternoon

From Paphos Town Hall, we waddled all the way back down toward the seaside, ready for a well-deserved break. We stopped for lunch at Pinguino Café, a laid-back spot right by the water that quickly became one of our favorites. After refueling with something delicious and refreshing, we spent the rest of the afternoon by the beach, enjoying a swim and a stroll along the Paphos boardwalk. The sea breeze, the sound of the waves, and the warm sunshine made it the perfect way to wrap up our first day in Paphos.

The Paphos seaside and boardwalk are surprisingly well-equipped if you’re planning to spend a day by the beach. Along several stretches, you’ll find changing areas, outdoor showers, and sunbed rentals, making it super easy to go from sightseeing to swimming without much planning. There are also plenty of cafés, restaurants, and shaded spots to relax in between dips in the sea. Whether you want a quick cool-off or a full beach day, the Paphos waterfront has everything you need right at your flipper-tips.

#6: Sunset Magic in Paphos

We wrapped up our first day by watching one of the famous Paphos sunsets, and it truly lived up to its reputation. The sky slowly turned shades of gold, pink, and deep orange as the sun dipped into the Mediterranean, casting a warm glow over the sea and harbor. Paphos is known worldwide for its breathtaking sunsets, and seeing one in person is something you simply can’t miss. It’s the perfect way to end a day of exploring, swimming, and wandering through this beautiful coastal town.

We started our second day in Paphos bright and early once again, ready for another round of exploring. This time, we headed to the Tombs of the Kings, which, fun fact, we originally thought we had already seen inside the Archaeological Park the day before! Only later did we realize they’re actually two completely different sites. So once again, our morning began among ancient stones and centuries of history, before we continued exploring more of what Paphos has to offer beyond its archaeological treasures.

#1: Tombs of the Kings

We started our day at the Tombs of the Kings, another incredible archaeological site and part of the UNESCO World Heritage list. It’s a large complex, not quite as vast as the Archaeological Park, but still one of the most impressive places in Paphos. The tombs, carved directly into the rock, are beautifully preserved and give a real sense of the city’s ancient past. If you’re short on time and have to choose between the two main archaeological sites, we’d actually recommend visiting the Tombs of the Kings; it left a strong impression on us. You can also read more about our experience in our full post, Exploring the Tombs of the Kings in Paphos.

#2: Waddling Back Along the Paphos Port Walk

From the Tombs of the Kings, we slowly waddled back toward the Paphos seaside, following the scenic Port Walk that leads all the way to Paphos Castle. It’s perfect for an easy waddle, with plenty of photo stops along the way. The gentle sea breeze and relaxed atmosphere made it one of our favorite walks in Paphos, connecting the city’s ancient past with its lively harbor life. Though be aware there is not much shade to get. But there are plenty of water stations to refill your bottle.

#3: Paphos Castle, Small Fortress with Big Views

Next, we arrived at the Paphos Castle, a small but charming coastal fortress that stands right by the harbor. Entrance costs just €2.50, and while there isn’t much to see inside apart from a few stone rooms and old walls, it’s still worth the visit. You can climb up to the rooftop, where you’ll be rewarded with beautiful panoramic views of the sea, the port, and the whole Paphos waterfront. It’s a quick stop, but a memorable one, especially if you enjoy history mixed with seaside scenery.

#4: Pool Time & Another Perfect Sunset

After exploring Paphos Castle, we headed back to our hotel for a bit of poolside relaxation, the perfect way to cool off after a day in the sun. Later, we grabbed a late lunch (or early dinner) and took a slow evening walk along the seaside, watching another one of those magical Paphos sunsets. The sky once again turned into a masterpiece of colors, and it felt like the ideal calm ending to our second day in this beautiful coastal town.

We only had half a day left in Paphos before it was time to pack up and head to the airport, so we wanted to make the most of our final morning. We woke up early once again and decided to take a relaxed walk along the boardwalk, this time heading in the opposite direction from the harbor. The seaside was peaceful, the air still cool, and it felt like the perfect way to say goodbye to Paphos, a slow, easy morning walk followed by a bit of beach time and sunshine before our journey home.

#1: Morning Walk & Beach Time Along the Boardwalk

We decided to spend our last morning waddling along the other side of the Paphos boardwalk, the part we hadn’t explored yet. The path stretches for several kilometers, around 3 to 4 km each way, making it ideal for a scenic stroll by the sea. Along the way, you’ll find plenty of beautiful small beaches perfect for a quick swim or just relaxing in the sun. We stopped at one of them to chill for a while, enjoying the calm waves and peaceful vibe before it was time to head back. It was the perfect slow ending to our short but full Paphos getaway.

And that was our two and a half (almost three) days in Paphos, short, sunny, and full of great memories. We managed to see quite a lot, but there’s still so much more to explore in and around the city. If you have more time, definitely check out spots like the Paphos Zoo, the iconic Aphrodite’s Rock, or one of the boat tours along the coast. Our Paphos adventure may have been short, but it perfectly blended history, sunshine, and those easygoing Mediterranean vibes we love. From ancient ruins and seaside walks to lazy afternoons by the pool, these three days reminded us how much beauty can be packed into a slight stretch of time. If you’re planning a quick escape, Paphos is an ideal choice, compact, full of character, and endlessly scenic.

Whether you come for the culture, the beaches, or simply to unwind, you’ll find something here that makes you want to stay longer. Until next time, we’ll keep dreaming of those sunsets, stone ruins, and peaceful waddles by the sea.
