Finding a hotel in Prague with parking was harder than we expected. Many places looked good at first, but parking was often limited, unclear, or impractical. When we came across Don Giovanni Hotel Prague, it stood out as a place that solved this problem without feeling like a compromise. What convinced us was how easy everything felt from arrival to departure. The hotel is well connected by public transport, so reaching the city centre was simple, while staying outside the busiest areas made the stay calmer overall. It turned out to be a practical and comfortable base that let us enjoy Prague without the usual parking stress.
Don Giovanni Hotel Prague opened its doors in 1995, originally operating under a different name before being rebranded as Don Giovanni in 2006, inspired by Mozart’s famous opera Don Giovanni. The building itself reflects Prague’s 1990s hotel architecture, designed to handle a high number of international guests with plenty of space, wide corridors, and large common areas. A fun fact is that the hotel leans into its musical theme throughout the interiors, especially in shared spaces and event areas. Over the years, it has been modernized step by step, so while the structure shows its age in size and layout, the rooms and facilities feel updated and well-maintained today.

The hotel is located in Prague 3, slightly outside the historic centre, which worked in our favour. We arrived by car from Brno, using the highway, and the route was straightforward with no stressful city driving. Being able to pull in, park, and check in without navigating narrow old-town streets immediately feels easy and well planned.
At the same time, the location does not isolate you from the city. The hotel sits right next to a public transport station, so getting into central Prague takes just a few minutes. This combination of easy highway access and quick public transport made it a very convenient base, especially if you are visiting Prague by car and want to avoid the usual parking and traffic challenges.
Accessibility was another thing we paid attention to, especially on arrival. At first, we were unsure where to park, but once we spotted the entrance to the underground parking garage, everything was clear and easy to navigate. Having on-site parking took a lot of stress away, especially after a longer drive, and moving between the car and the hotel was simple.
If you arrive by public transport, the Don Giovanni Hotel Prague is very well connected. The hotel sits right next to Želivského on Metro Line A, and several tram lines also stop nearby. This makes it easy to reach the city centre, the main train station, and other parts of Prague without a car.
Hotel Surroundings
- Shopping Opportunities Nearby. Just a short metro ride away or even walking is OC Flora, a shopping centre with brands, cafés, and supermarkets under one roof. For smaller needs, there are also local grocery stores, bakeries, and pharmacies within walking distance of the hotel, which came in handy for quick snacks or last-minute essentials.
- Cultural Sites. While the hotel itself is outside the historic core, cultural sights are easy to reach. Thanks to the nearby metro, getting to places like Old Town Square, Wenceslas Square, or the National Museum is quick and straightforward. Even closer to the hotel, you can find smaller neighbourhood parks and local streets that give you a glimpse of everyday Prague beyond the tourist-heavy areas, like for example Židovské hřbitovy.
- Dining Options. Food-wise, the area around the hotel offers a mix of casual and sit-down options. There are local Czech restaurants, pizza places, and Asian eateries within a short walk, making it easy to have dinner after a day of exploring. We also grabbed something at OC Flora. Other restaurants nearby include Restaurace Let’s Meat or La Frama.
Check-In Experience
When we first pulled into the Don Giovanni Hotel Prague, we had a moment figuring out where to park, but as soon as we spotted the entrance to the underground lot, it all made sense and felt straightforward. After that, we made our way up to the check-in counter in the lobby. The space feels welcoming, and there are several receptionists on duty, so even with a few guests ahead of us, it didn’t feel slow or crowded.
Our check-in went smoothly, and the staff were friendly and helpful, giving us all the information we needed about the hotel layout, where to eat, how to use the metro, and even tips for getting around Prague.
From our point of view, the check-in experience fully lived up to what we had read online. Guests often mention how warm and professional the reception team is, and that matched our experience exactly. Everything was handled quickly and clearly, without any awkward waiting or confusion, which we really appreciated after the journey. It set a positive tone for the rest of our stay, and arriving later in the day still felt easy and relaxed thanks to how smoothly the front desk handled everything.
The reception is open 24 hours a day, which is helpful if you arrive late or need assistance at any time. Check-in starts from 15:00, and check-out is until 10:00, making the schedule clear and easy to plan around during your stay.
Room and Amenities
Don Giovanni Hotel Prague is a large hotel with over 400 rooms, designed to accommodate both individual travelers and larger groups. The room selection ranges from Standard Rooms for short stays, through Superior and Executive Rooms with a bit more space and comfort, to Suites suited for longer stays or those wanting extra room. This variety makes it easy to choose based on budget and travel style, whether you are visiting Prague for a quick city break, a road trip stop, or a long stay.
We stayed in the Pavel Nedvěd Suite, named after the famous Czech footballer, and the extra space was something we appreciated straight away. The suite was spacious and quiet, set higher up in the building, which gave it more privacy compared to standard rooms. It was laid out as two main rooms: a separate chill area with a huge couch and plenty of space to relax, and a bedroom with an extra room just for clothes, plus the bathroom. Having that much room made the stay feel very comfortable, and we genuinely enjoyed having space to spread out rather than living out of a suitcase.
When we first walked into the room, the first thing we noticed was a complimentary bottle of wine, which was a really nice touch 😏, along with bottled water waiting for us. The room also had a stocked minibar and a few extra goodies, which made it feel welcoming right away. There was a safe, a proper work desk, a TV with satellite channels, a phone, tea and coffee-making facilities, a kettle, plus heating and a fan. Everything felt practical and well thought out, especially with sockets right next to the bed and plenty of storage thanks to the separate wardrobe space.
The bathroom was equally well equipped, with free toiletries, towels, bed linen, toilet paper, and a choice of a bathtub or shower. There was also a hairdryer, clean linens, and everything felt ready to use without needing to ask for anything extra. Little details like the wake-up service, elevator access to higher floors, and safety features, such as a carbon monoxide detector, added to the overall comfort.
Culinary Experience
Breakfast
Breakfast is served on the ground floor, and for us, this was something we were genuinely looking forward to. We always tend to judge hotels at least a little by their breakfast, so expectations were set before we even walked in. Service runs from 6:30 to 11:00, which felt generous and worked well whether we were heading out early or taking a slower morning. Having such a wide time window made mornings relaxed.
As we stepped out of the elevator and headed toward the breakfast area, we were honestly surprised by its scale. The first step is to give your room number to the staff member, then waddle straight into the breakfast area. The area itself is huge, and at first it felt a little overwhelming. We have stayed in many hotels over the years, including large international chains, but this was probably the biggest and loudest breakfast area we have ever encountered. It definitely made an impression right away and set a very different tone compared to smaller, quieter hotel breakfasts we are used to.
Once the initial overwhelm settled, we started to notice just how much was actually on offer. In terms of food, there really is everything you could dream of, whether you are in the mood for a savory or sweet breakfast. We went straight for scrambled eggs, which is usually our go-to way of judging a hotel breakfast, and they definitely passed our personal test. There were also pastries, breads, spreads, fruit, cereals, and plenty of hot and cold optionm.
We ended up sitting in one of the rooms just next door to the main breakfast hall, where it was noticeably quieter, and a full breakfast spread was still available. That made the experience much more relaxed and enjoyable for us. Overall, once you find your spot and get your plate sorted, breakfast feels generous, well-organized, and satisfying, even if the main space can be busy at peak times.
Allegretto Restaurant
Allegretto Restaurant is the hotel’s main dining spot, offering a seasonal menu prepared by chef Jan Volavka, as well as a daily business lunch menu. The space is set up for both relaxed lunches and more formal dinners, with professional service and an outdoor terrace for warmer days. It is open Monday to Sunday from 12:00 to 22:00. We did not manageto check it out during our stay, but it was good to know there was a proper restaurant on-site if we wanted an easy dinner without heading into the city.
TEATRO Restaurant
TEATRO Restaurant is the hotel’s main dining space, where breakfast is also served. It is a large, spacious restaurant with capacity for up to 300 guests, designed to handle both everyday dining and bigger gatherings. In the evenings, TEATRO offers all-you-can-eat buffet dinners with an international focus, and the space is often used for events, private dinners, and parties. The restaurant is open Monday to Sunday from 19:00 to 22:00. Unfortunately, we did not have the chance to try the evening buffet during our stay, but breakfast was good.
AMADEUS Bar
AMADEUS Bar sits right in the heart of the hotel lobby and has a modern interior with a charming atmosphere. We stopped by for a drink one evening, and it turned out to be a nice way to slow down after a day in the city. The bar offers cocktails, a solid wine selection, excellent coffee, and a fresh, simple menu, all served by friendly and professional staff. What made it especially enjoyable was the setting itself: sitting in the huge lobby while someone played the piano in the background. The bar is open daily from 08:00 to 01:00, making it an easy spot for a morning coffee, an afternoon break, or a relaxed evening drink.
Facilities and Services
The Lobby
The lobby at Don Giovanni Hotel Prague is hard to miss, mainly because of its size. It is large, open, and built around a striking central staircase that immediately draws your attention upon entering. This is also where much of the hotel’s daily life happens. You will find the AMADEUS Bar, often with live piano music adding to the atmosphere, comfortable seating areas, and even a small shop selling dresses and accessories, which felt a bit unexpected but interesting to see. What we liked is that the lobby is not just a pass-through space but a place where people actually spend time. You can also spot subtle references to the hotel’s musical theme and history, which ties back to its Don Giovanni inspiration. Overall, it feels lively without being chaotic, and it gives you a good first impression of what the hotel is about the moment you step inside.
Wellness
The hotel also has a Wellness & Spa Centre for guests who want to slow things down a bit. The facilities include a whirlpool, saunas with views over Prague, a steam bath with eucalyptus essence, Thai massages, and a relaxation area with deck chairs and a terrace overlooking the city. There is also a small reception area where you can get drinks and light snacks. The wellness centre is open Monday to Sunday from 10:00 to 22:00, and bookings can be made by phone at +420 601 158 520 or via email at [email protected]. A separate price list is available. We did not manage to explore the wellness area during our stay this time, simply because our days in Prague filled up quickly, but it is definitely something we would consider on a return visit.
Value For Money
For our weekend stay at Don Giovanni Hotel Prague, from Friday 25 October to Sunday 27 October 2024, we paid €306.72 for two people, which felt very reasonable for what we got. Considering the room size, on-site parking, easy car access, good public transport connections, and the hotel’s facilities, the price made sense for a Prague weekend. It was the kind of stay where nothing felt like a compromise, and for two people spending a whole weekend in the city, the overall experience matched the cost well.

The hotel may be large, but it is well run, comfortable, and practical, with good facilities and straightforward service. It worked well for our Friday-to-Sunday stay and offered good value for money, making it a reliable option rather than a risky one.
