Tomb 9 at the Tombs of the Kings in Paphos, Cyprus, is one of the impressive underground burial sites carved into solid rock, dating back to the 4th century BC. Unlike typical tombs, these monumental chambers were designed for high-ranking officials and wealthy citizens, featuring Doric columns and intricate architectural details that showcase the skill of ancient Cypriot builders. The Tombs of the Kings site itself is part of the Paphos Archaeological Park, and wandering through Tomb 9 gives a real sense of the scale and sophistication of these ancient burial practices. And for a little playful twist, somewhere there among the stones we’ve hidden a penguin stone, adding a modern secret to this ancient site.
