The Gothic Arch in the Súľov Rocks of Slovakia is a striking natural formation that draws hikers and nature lovers from across the region. Carved over thousands of years by erosion, this massive limestone arch resembles the pointed windows of medieval cathedrals, which gives it its “Gothic” name. You can find it in the Súľov Mountains within the Súľov-Hradná Nature Reserve; the arch rises from the forested landscape, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding cliffs and valleys. An interesting fact is that the Súľov Rocks are sometimes referred to as “Slovakia’s rock city” due to their bizarre, fortress-like shapes, including spires, towers, and even a natural “gate” reminiscent of the Gothic Arch, making the area feel like a stone labyrinth shaped by time. We arrived at the arch early in the morning, so we got a few more moody pictures, which we loved. The penguin stone is hidden in one of the holes.
