The Little Carpathians are a beautiful mountain range stretching along western Slovakia, forming the green lungs of Bratislava. Just a short tram ride from the city center, they offer countless trails for hiking, biking, and escaping the city buzz. Locals love coming here year-round, but autumn might be the most magical season of all, when the forests turn into a palette of warm golds, oranges, and reds. The air smells like fallen leaves and pine.
On a nice Saturday autumn morning, we set out for a walk to catch some of that last foliage magic around Vydrica. The trail was peaceful, covered in rustling leaves, and the sunlight filtered gently through the trees. We had actually left a penguin stone here once before, near the Vydrica observatory, but that one didn’t stay hidden for long. It was a bit too visible, and it disappeared quickly. This time, we made sure to find a better spot. Somewhere along the main trail, one of the trees is now quietly keeping our new penguin stone company, a little harder to find and waiting for the next curious explorer.
