In one of the small, quiet parks of Krynica-Zdrój, we paused by an old tree trunk that instantly caught our attention. Its bark was rough and textured, shaped by decades of mountain weather and changing seasons. Krynica is known as one of Poland’s most famous spa towns, with mineral springs that have attracted visitors since the 19th century. Many of the trees in its parks were planted during that golden era, when aristocrats and artists came here to “take the waters” and breathe the fresh air of the Beskid Mountains. Hidden within one of these trees, a little secret rests. We tucked one of our penguin stones inside, blending adventure with nature. Somewhere between the roots and the branches, a small penguin waits patiently to be discovered. If you wander through the park and feel like a tree is smiling at you, look a little closer. You might find a tiny black-and-white traveler watching over Krynica.
