The Buddha statue viewpoint at Haedong Yonggungsa Temple is one of the best spots to take in the temple’s dramatic setting, perched on rugged coastal rocks with waves crashing below. This stone terrace sits above the complex, giving youa full panoramic view of the pagodas, bridges, and seaside shrines. Haedong Yonggungsa is one of the few Buddhist temples in Korea built directly along the coast; most are tucked deep in the mountains, making this spot especially unique. And for a playful twist, somewhere just behind the statues, a tiny penguin stone now hides, quietly enjoying the sea breeze while keeping watch over one of Busan’s most iconic temples.
