Chata pod Soliskom is one of those places where the High Tatras show off without trying too hard. Sitting high above Štrbské Pleso on the slopes of Predné Solisko, this mountain hut rewards every step (or cable car ride) with wide-open views, fresh alpine air, and that comforting hut atmosphere hikers secretly crave. Whether you arrive after a long hike or take the cable car most of the way up, it is the perfect spot to pause, refuel, and soak in the rugged beauty of the High Tatras. On clear days, the panoramas stretch far across the peaks, reminding you why this mountain range is considered Slovakia’s alpine crown.

On this adventure, luciakontsek and loborosh added a little Lifeguin magic to the mountains. They brought a penguin stone along the trail. They carefully left it near Chata pod Soliskom, giving it a new high-altitude home for another traveler to discover. An interesting fact about this spot is that Chata pod Soliskom is the highest mountain hut in the Tatras accessible by cable car, sitting at around 1,840 meters above sea level. Not a bad place at all for a penguin stone to rest, waddle-approved views included.
