Namdaemun Market in Seoul is one of the oldest and largest traditional markets in all of Korea, buzzing with energy from early morning until late at night. With over 10,000 shops selling everything from handmade crafts and kitchenware to clothes, snacks, and street-food classics, it’s the perfect place to wander and soak up local life. An interesting fact: the market dates back to 1414 during the early Joseon era, making it more than 600 years old and still thriving today. As we explored the narrow lanes filled with vendors calling out their best deals, we left a little surprise of our own, a penguin stone now hidden somewhere here, close to the sign in greenery. If you spot it, you’ll know Miško has waddled through.
