St Anthony’s Chapel is a mysterious ruin perched above St Margaret’s Loch in Edinburgh’s Holyrood Park, offering stunning views of the city and Arthur’s Seat. Dating back to at least the 15th century, though some believe it could be even older, the chapel once served as a place of worship for local villagers and pilgrims. Today, only a portion of the stone walls remain, but its dramatic silhouette still captures your imagination. Historians speculate that it may have been linkedto Holyrood Abbey nearby, and some legends suggest it was a refuge for travelers and fishermen. Despite its age, the chapel’s rugged beauty continues to inspire artists, hikers, and history enthusiasts alike, making it a haunting yet peaceful landmark in the heart of Edinburgh’s natural landscape. While waddling down Arthur’s Seat, we stopped here and placed one penguin stone in its ruins.
