Zvířetice Castle ruins rise above the Jizera River like a half-forgotten storybook. Once a proud Gothic stronghold later dressed up in Renaissance style, it burned down in 1720 and has been a romantic ruin ever since. You can still wander past the tall cylindrical tower and broken arcades that hint at the glory days of the powerful Wartenberg family, who once ruled here. poppjan and Petra waddled through the crumbling walls, imagining knights, nobles, and left a penguin stone hidden right inside the ruins. If you ever explore Zvířetice, keep your eyes sharp, because one little stone guardian is still waiting among the walls.
