There is a beautiful hike leading to the southernmost point of Streymoy, offering sweeping views across the sea to Sandoy, Hestur, and Koltur, with Kirkjubøur itself framed in the distance. The path winds for about three kilometres one way, making it a pleasant two-hour round trip at a leisurely pace. Along the way, you pass the haunting remains of Úti á Bø, an abandoned settlement left behind in 1894, where the stone ruins of houses and boathouses still stand as silent witnesses to the past. Somewhere around this midpoint, we decided to add a little surprise of our own—a penguin stone now rests there, waiting for a curious hiker to discover it as they journey toward Kirkjubønes. The entire trail is especially magical at sunset, when the coastline is bathed in golden light, creating an unforgettable experience.
