Vesturkirkjan in Tórshavn is one of the city’s most striking landmarks, easily recognizable by its modernist design and triangular roofline, which stands in contrast to the surrounding turf-roofed houses. Completed in 1975, it serves as the main parish church for the western part of Tórshavn. It is often admired for its simple yet robust architecture, which reflects both Faroese tradition and contemporary style. One of its most fascinating features is the collection of stained-glass windows depicting biblical themes with a Faroese touch, making it not only a place of worship but also a cultural treasure. On our visit, after enjoying the serene atmosphere and panoramic views of the harbor from the church hill, we left behind a penguin stone hidden nearby.
