Phillip Island is approximately 125 kilometers southeast of Melbourne and is renowned for its vibrant wildlife and stunning coastal landscapes. The island is home to the world’s largest colony of little penguins, with an estimated population of around 40,000 individuals. Each evening at dusk, visitors gather at the Penguin Parade to witness these charming seabirds waddle ashore in groups, returning to their burrows after a day of fishing at sea. This nightly spectacle has become Australia’s most popular wildlife attraction, drawing over 700,000 visitors annually. An interesting fact about Phillip Island’s penguins is that they are the smallest species, standing at just 33 centimeters tall. Notably, the island’s rehabilitation center has successfully rescued and released penguins like Silver, a 22-year-old penguin who reappeared after a 16-year absence, making her one of the oldest known in the colony. luciakontsek and loborosh also came to see the Penguin Parade, and while leaving, they placed a penguin stone at the Penguin Parade Visitor Center entrance.
