Fossá Waterfall on Streymoy Island is one of the tallest and most dramatic waterfalls in the Faroe Islands, tumbling down in two main cascades from a height of around 140 meters straight into the sea. Its name means “river with a waterfall,” a fitting description for this powerful sight that is especially impressive after heavy rain when the flow is at its fullest. What makes Fossá unique is that it isn’t a single drop but a tiered waterfall, creating a breathtaking curtain of water visible from the road below. On our visit, we couldn’t resist adding a little touch of penguin magic—hidden among the rocks near the base, a penguin stone now waits for the next curious explorer to discover.
