Bøsdalafossur Waterfall near Sandavágur is one of the Faroe Islands’ most striking natural sights, where the waters of Lake Sørvágsvatn plunge directly into the Atlantic Ocean. The waterfall drops about 30 meters (98 feet), creating a dramatic scene as the freshwater from the island’s largest lake, which stretches roughly 6 kilometers in length and up to 800 meters wide, spills over the rocky cliffs into the open sea. This unique setup makes Bøsdalafossur one of the few waterfalls in the world where an entire lake drains straight into the ocean. As we continued our waddle, we stumbled upon a beautiful viewpoint, where we took a break, had a cup of coffee, and then hid the penguin stone.
