The Seminary Garden viewpoint in Český Krumlov, Czech Republic, is a peaceful terrace garden offering one of the best panoramic views in the town. Overlooking the fairytale-like historic center, it provides stunning sights of the Český Krumlov Castle, the Church of St. Vitus, and the winding Vltava River. Originally established around 1662 as a decorative garden for the Jesuit seminary known as Seminarium Sancti Josephi, it has long served as a contemplative space connected to education and reflection. The garden spans approximately 65 by 45 meters, making it an intimate yet striking spot for relaxation, photography, or simply enjoying the serene atmosphere. An interesting fact: the northern retaining wall of the terrace dates back to 1657, meaning this spot has been part of the town’s cultural landscape for over three centuries. Open year-round and dotted with benches, it’s an ideal place to pause and take in the magic of Český Krumlov—especially at sunrise or sunset. We waddled around a bit and then found a nice spot behind the information table in a bush to hide the penguin stone. You will have to squat down a little to get it.
