The Paul‑Fischer‑Hängebrücke (aka “Gwaggelibrugg”) is a charming little suspension footbridge spanning the Limmat between Wettingen’s historic monastery island and Damsau/Neuenhof. Built in 1863 to help mill workers cross quickly, it’s one of Switzerland’s oldest wire‑cable suspension bridges – still boasting its original cables even after a careful 1982 renovation when it was renamed in honor of local mayor Paul Fischer. True to its nickname, “Wackelibrugg,” it still sways noticeably today, especially when joggers or groups cross together, making it both nostalgic and wobbly! Thanks to loborosh, now a penguin stone also hides inside the bridge.
