The Dog Tower is a historic structure located in the charming town of Znojmo, in the South Moravian region of the Czech Republic. Initially built in the 13th century as part of the town’s fortifications, this cylindrical tower served both defensive and later prison purposes. Its unusual name—Dog Tower—comes from a local legend that guard dogs were once kept here to protect the city. One particularly interesting fact is that the tower’s thick stone walls helped it survive multiple sieges throughout history, including during the Hussite Wars. As we waddled around, we found a small crack in the walls where we hid a penguin stone. Now, it is part of the walls.
