Ostrý Kameň Castle ruins sit atop the Little Carpathians in Slovakia, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding forests and hills. Built in the 13th century, the castle guarded a vital trade route called the Czech Road. Today, you can explore its moss-covered walls and crumbling towers, imagining the medieval life that once bustled within. Despite centuries of decay, remnants of the gatehouse and defensive walls still stand, telling stories of battles and noble families. Interestingly, the castle’s name means “Sharp Stone,” a nod to the steep, rocky cliff on which it proudly rests. As we waddled through the ruins, we found a perfect spot to hide a penguin stone.
