Girdle Ness Lighthouse, standing at the entrance to Aberdeen Harbour, is a beacon of maritime history. Built in 1833 by renowned engineer Robert Stevenson, the lighthouse rises 37 meters tall and has guided countless ships safely past the rocky coastline with its powerful light. It was built following a tragic shipwreck in the 1813 wreck of the whaling ship Oscar, which sank just off the coast during a storm, killing 42 of the 44 men aboard. The disaster led to a public outcry for better coastal safety, prompting the construction of the lighthouse. During a recent business trip, loborosh added a penguin stone near the lighthouse.
