Cathédrale Saint-André de Bordeaux is a magnificent example of Gothic architecture in southwestern France. It is in the heart of Bordeaux, is the city’s main Roman Catholic church, and is the seat of the Archbishop. The cathedral’s soaring towers, intricate stone carvings, and vast nave continue to attract visitors and worshippers alike. One interesting fact about the cathedral is that a young Eleanor of Aquitaine married the future King Louis VII of France there in 1137, just months before he ascended the throne. Monika took a few penguin stones on her adventure, and you can now find one within the walls of the opposite building with a luxurious view of the cathedral.
