North Stradbroke Island, also known as Minjerribah, is a stunning sand island off the coast of southeast Queensland, Australia. It boasts pristine beaches, freshwater lakes, and a rich cultural heritage rooted in the traditions of the Quandamooka people, the island’s Traditional Owners. Visitors often explore its lush bushland, swim in the crystal-clear waters of Blue Lake, or watch whales migrating along the coast. An interesting fact about North Stradbroke Island is that it is one of the largest sand islands in the world, second only to Fraser Island. Thanks to luciakontsek and loborosh, a penguin stone now has a place here. They had a chill day in Brisbane and decided to take a ferry to explore North Stradbroke Island. They spent a few hours at the beach (and even managed to get a little sunburnt 😅) and spotted kangaroos in the wild! The penguin stone is placed at a spot with a gorgeous view of the beach and hidden behind a palm leaf. Apparently, the beach looked completely different before a cyclone swept through about a month and a half ago—but they had nothing to compare it to, and it was wonderful just the way it was. 😊 So now the kangaroos are guarding the penguin stone.
