Plzeň Zoo in the Czech Republic is one of the country’s most beloved zoological gardens, combining a traditional zoo with a botanical park that makes wandering its paths feel like a stroll through nature. Opened in 1926, the zoo is home to over 1,200 species from around the world, including big cats, giraffes, reptiles, and a strong focus on conservation programs. It’s especially known for its successful breeding efforts, such as the critically endangered Przewalski’s horse, which has been reintroduced to the wild with the help of the zoo’s program. One fun fact is that Plzeň Zoo was the first in the world to breed the Komodo dragon in captivity, a huge milestone in animal conservation. And now, it holds another small secret: thanks to poppjan, one of the penguin stones has found its home here, waiting quietly underneath the dinosaur skeleton close to the entrance for curious visitors to discover. 🐧
