Fjaðrárgljúfur is a breathtaking canyon in southeast Iceland near the village of Kirkjubæjarklaustur. Carved by the Fjaðrá River and glacial meltwater over approximately 9,000 years, this natural wonder reaches depths of up to 100 meters and stretches 2 kilometers. The canyon is easily accessible from the main Ring Road. You can park and walk along the canyon to the top, where you can see a beautiful waterfall and breathtaking views. For a different perspective, a path leads down from the parking area, offering a view of the massive rocky walls and the valley. For those with sturdy boots, hiking through the canyon is possible, though it involves wading through the river. Thanks to petusica, who took a penguin stone on her adventure, you can find one here. The penguin stone is chillin’ on the bridge and looking at the canyon.
