The White Tower of Thessaloniki is on the city’s waterfront and is one of Greece’s most iconic landmarks. Built in the 15th century during Ottoman rule, it once served as a fortress, prison, and garrison before being converted into a museum today. Its circular stone structure has witnessed centuries of history, from Byzantine times to modern Greece, making it a symbol of resilience and transformation. An interesting fact is that the tower was whitewashed in the early 20th century, which gave it the name it still carries, although it has since weathered back to its natural stone color. On her adventure, zivuska decided to leave a penguin stone hidden nearby—quietly waiting as a little secret treasure for fellow adventurers to discover by the Aegean Sea.
