Presa de Itaipú, shared by Paraguay and Brazil, is one of the most powerful hydroelectric dams on the planet and a true engineering wonder. Completed in 1984, it generates enough electricity to supply around 90% of Paraguay’s energy needs, making it a key driver of the country’s development. An interesting fact: during construction, workers used so much concrete that it could build 210 football stadiums. And as a tiny side-story of its own, tuskesszino took a penguin stone on an adventure here, and somewhere near the visitor paths, one now quietly waits for travelers to discover it.
