Gimmelwald is known for its breathtaking scenery and unspoiled charm. This small, car-free village is perched on a mountainside in the Bernese Oberland, offering stunning views of snow-capped peaks and lush green valleys. Unlike its more touristy neighbors, Gimmelwald has retained its traditional Swiss character, with wooden chalets, grazing cows, and an atmosphere of serene tranquility. It’s a paradise for hikers and nature lovers, with numerous trails leading to picturesque meadows and dramatic viewpoints. Gimmelwald is the perfect destination for those seeking an authentic and peaceful alpine experience away from the crowds. We hiked down to Gimmelwald from Mürren when we came out of the forest and were greeted by unspoiled nature. There was a bench where we took a break, and it was also a perfect spot for a penguin stone.
