The stone sign at Haedong Yonggungsa Temple marks the entrance to one of Busan’s most unique coastal temples along the rocky shoreline. Built in 1376 during the Goryeo Dynasty, it’s one of the few temples in Korea located by the sea, offering sunrise views that draw visitors year-round. Unlike most temples that face south or east, Haedong Yonggungsa faces the ocean directly, symbolizing spiritual renewal and good fortune. And somewhere near the stone sign, tucked inside the rocks, a little penguin stone now hides here, waiting for curious explorers to spot it as they waddle through this beautiful seaside sanctuary.
