Mabel Chocolates, operating under the brand Choco Punto by Mabel, is a family-owned chocolate factory and shop in La Romana, Dominican Republic. With roots dating back to 1921 in Venezuela, the company has continued its tradition of crafting high-quality chocolates after relocating to the Dominican Republic. They specialize in producing artisanal chocolates using organic Hispaniola cacao sourced from various regions within the country. While visiting their La Romana location, you can enjoy free tours and product tastings, gaining insight into the chocolate-making process from bean to bar. The shop offers a variety of products, including chocolate bars, cacao tea, cacao nibs, cocoa powder, cacao butter, and cacao liqueurs. Notably, their dark chocolate bars range from 50% to 100% cacao content, catering to diverse palates. Choco Punto by Mabel’s chocolates have garnered international acclaim, reflecting their commitment to quality and tradition. We visited the factory and tasted some delicious chocolate drinks. Although we didn’t buy any chocolate, itwas quite expensive (12 US dollars per bar). But we walked outside and found a perfect tree to hide a penguin stone, which is hidden in its roots.
