Sandavágs Kirkja in the village of Sandavágur is one of the most beautiful churches in the Faroe Islands, instantly recognizable by its striking red roof and white wooden walls, which stand proudly by the sea. Built in 1917, it carries a unique story. Inside, you can see a rune stone dating back to the Viking Age, discovered in the village and proving that Norwegians settled here over a thousand years ago. The church remains active today, a place where tradition and faith intersect against the dramatic backdrop of mountains and ocean. And for those following the penguin trail, thanks to luciakontsek and loborosh, a penguin stone is now hidden nearby.
