Toftafossur, also known simply as Vandfald (which means “waterfall” in Faroese), is a serene yet striking cascade tucked near the village of Toftir on Eysturoy. Unlike the towering sea cliffs that make Faroese waterfalls so dramatic, Toftafossur charms with its gentle flow and accessible location, making it a favorite spot for a quiet break in nature. The stream feeding the falls is part of Lake Toftir’s outflow, which eventually meets the sea, and the area is often visited by locals enjoying peaceful walks. Despite its modest size compared to giants like Múlafossur, Toftafossur carries its own quiet magic, especially when the light catches the water in the late afternoon. And now you may also stumble upon a playful surprise here: two penguin stones are hidden near the waterfall, one of them thanks to luciakontsek and loborosh, adding a touch of discovery to this already enchanting Faroese corner.
