The bust of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe honors the legendary German writer, poet, scientist, and philosopher, who lived from 1749 to 1832 and is considered one of the most important figures in European literature. Goethe visited Karlovy Vary many times during his life, drawn to the spa town’s healing springs and elegant atmosphere, and he even celebrated some of his birthdays here. His works, including Faust and The Sorrows of Young Werther, influenced literature across Europe for generations. During their Karlovy Vary adventure, Lucia and Rosh also stopped by the bust and decided to hide a small penguin stone nearby for lucky explorers to discover.
