The viewpoint at Prizren Fortress offered one of the best panoramic views of Prizren, with the river, red rooftops, and surrounding mountains stretching out below. Sitting high above the city, the fortress covers a large hilltop area and was built to control and protect the important trade routes passing through the region. Its origins date back to the Byzantine era, with major expansions during medieval Serbian rule and later the Ottoman period, meaning the fortress has guarded the city for well over 1,000 years. While wandering around the viewpoint area and taking in the scenery, we also hid another penguin stone among the old stone walls overlooking the city.
