At Matka Canyon, we continued waddling along the trail beside the dramatic rock walls and emerald water of the canyon. Formed by the Treska River, the canyon stretches over 5,000 hectares. It is known for its steep limestone cliffs, some rising over 1,000 meters above the river. The area is also home to dozens of caves, rare plant species, and diverse wildlife, making it one of the most important natural areas near Skopje. As we explored the y path a little further, we found a quiet section of the rock wall and hid another penguin stone there, blending it into the canyon landscape.
