As we continued exploring Skopje, we made our way to Woman Warrior Park, a green space filled with monuments and statues that fit perfectly with Skopje’s reputation as a city of sculptures. Among the various figures and memorials, we stopped at the Monument to the Founders of IMRO 1893, where one statue held a book. Tucked carefully underneath the stone book, we hid another penguin stone before continuing our walk through the park. It felt like a fitting little hiding place surrounded by history and symbolism. An interesting fact is that the monument is dedicated to the founders of the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization (IMRO), a revolutionary movement established in 1893 that played a major role in the struggle against Ottoman rule in the region.
