Xunantunich, near San Jose Succotz in Belize, is an incredible Mayan archaeological site that sits atop a ridge with stunning views of the surrounding jungle and the Mopan River. Known for its towering El Castillo pyramid, which rises over 130 feet, the site was a major ceremonial center in its heyday. You can explore plazas, ball courts, and intricate stone carvings that showcase the ancient Maya’s artistry and ingenuity.
