Mirabellgarten in Salzburg is one of the city’s most enchanting spots, a perfectly manicured Baroque garden framed by statues, fountains, and sweeping views of the Hohensalzburg Fortress. It’s famous for its geometric flowerbeds and for being one of the filming locations of The Sound of Music. An interesting fact is that the iconic “Do-Re-Mi” steps are right here, and visitors still reenact the scene today. While wandering through the pathways and rose-lined corners, we also left a tiny penguin stone somewhere in the garden. It’s not the historical highlight, but it’s a little penguin secret waiting for someone curious enough to find it. Look for the sweet potato on the left and the bench below, and then on the right side of it.
