Official Penguin Rating

Finding a good place to stay in Phapos might be harder than you think. There is plenty to choose from, and if you’re looking for a stay that blends Mediterranean charm, modern comfort, and a laid-back vibe, Anemi Hotel & Suites in Paphos, Cyprus, is an easy favorite. Just a short waddle from the sandy beach and harbor, this boutique hotel struck for us the perfect balance between style and relaxation. What first caught our eye was the hotel’s bright, contemporary design, think clean lines, soft tones, and sunlit spaces that instantly make you slow down and breathe. With a refreshing pool area, spacious suites with kitchenettes, and a friendly team that makes you feel genuinely welcome, Anemi Hotel & Suites is a spot to unwind, recharge, and enjoy the sunny rhythm of Paphos life.
Anemi Hotel & Suites has been part of Paphos’s hospitality scene since 1983, evolving from a modest family-run hotel into one of the city’s most stylish boutique stays. Its name, Anemi, means winds in Greek, fitting for Cyprus’s coastal breeze. In 2017, the hotel underwent a complete renovation to reflect a modern, minimalist design while keeping its warm Cypriot roots intact. Fun fact: many of the hotel’s decorative touches are inspired by local craftsmanship and island textures, from woven baskets to stone accents.

Hotel Surroundings
- Shopping Opportunities. Just a few minutes’ waddle from the hotel, you’ll find Poseidonos Avenue, lined with souvenir shops, beachwear boutiques, and mini markets for any quick essentials. Suppose you’re in the mood for a little retail therapy. In that case, Kings Avenue Mall is only a 10-minute waddle away, offering international brands, cafés, and a cinema, perfect for a lazy afternoon escape from the sun.
- Cultural Sites. If you are looking for history, the Paphos Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is just a short waddle from the hotel and features ancient Roman villas and beautifully preserved mosaics. The Paphos Castle and Harbor Promenade are also close, ideal for evening walks by the sea. Even the Old Town with its charming market square, craft shops, and street art is just a short bus or taxi ride uphill.
- Dining Options. When it comes to food, the hotel’s own restaurant and pool bar serve a tasty breakfast and Mediterranean-inspired meals throughout the day. For nearby options, Porto Bello offers excellent Italian dishes with a cozy atmosphere, while The Lodge Steak & Seafood Co. is a great pick for something heartier. If you’re craving local flavors, Harbor Café Restaurant and Ta Bania serve fresh Cypriot seafood right by the water. And for dessert or a mid-afternoon treat, stop by Pingouino Café, a local favorite just a few minutes away, and yes, even the penguins would approve of that one.
Check-In Experience
We arrived at the hotel in the evening after a later flight, and the check-in process was smooth and effortless. A very friendly lady greeted us at the reception and immediately took care of everything; the whole process took less than three minutes. She provided us with all the essential information, including breakfast hours, and patiently answered all our questions. After a long travel day, it was the perfect welcome, quick, efficient, and genuinely friendly, setting an excellent tone for the rest of our stay.
The reception is open 24/7, so there’s always someone around to help, whether you’re checking in late or need tips on where to eat nearby. You’ll also find free Wi-Fi, luggage storage, and on-site parking for guests. Everything is set up to keep your stay easy and stress-free.
We also asked at the reception about the option of a late checkout, and they told us it is possible, but you need to ask on the day of your departure. The confirmation is only available around 10 a.m., which was a bit inconvenient since we had planned to go out for a short trip that morning. The price was about 20 euros per hour, and for the three extra hours we asked about, it would have been roughly 75 euros. In the end, we decided not to take it, as we were already at the beach by the time we could have confirmed it.

Room and Amenities
Anemi Hotel & Suites has just the right mix of comfort and style, with around 112 rooms and suites designed to make you feel at home. Whether you’re staying for a weekend or a whole week, there’s a space that fits, from cozy studios perfect for couples to larger one-bedroom suites that work great for families or longer stays. Every room has a modern, minimalist design, private balcony, flat-screen TV, and free Wi-Fi, and most come with a small kitchenette, which is super handy if you want to whip up a quick breakfast or chill with snacks and wine on your balcony. The vibe is relaxed and airy, with lots of natural light and thoughtful details that make you instantly settle in.

After checking in, we headed up to our premium room on the fifth floor, which is the top floor of the hotel. The moment we walked in, we were pleasantly surprised by how spacious and well-organized the room was. On the left side was a modern bathroom, and on the right, a large built-in closet with plenty of space for clothes and suitcases, plus complimentary bathrobes and slippers. There was also a safe for valuables, along with complimentary bottled water, coffee, and tea.
A lovely surprise awaited us in the mini-fridge: a bottle of wine and a fresh fruit plate, a thoughtful touch that made us feel immediately welcome.
The room also featured a comfortable workspace with a table, a large TV, and a massive bed with nightstands on both sides. We really appreciated the built-in USB and USB-C charging ports, perfect for travelers who might forget their adapters.
The bathroom was very nice and spacious, with everything you could need. There was a large mirror, a hair dryer, and complimentary shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion. We appreciated the three sets of towels, a smaller facial towel, a medium-sized one, and a large bath towel. Everything was neat, clean, and clearly well-maintained.

The best part, however, was the private balcony offering a beautiful view of the Paphos harbor, and we could even spot the Paphos Castle in the distance. It was the perfect mix of comfort, convenience, and a little touch of luxury, making our stay at the Anemi Hotel feel extra special.
What we especially appreciated about the balcony was its thoughtful design. It had two comfortable chairs and a small table, perfect for relaxing with a drink or enjoying the view. There was even a hanger rack where you could easily dry your towels or swimsuits after a beach day, such a simple but useful detail. We also loved that the balcony was fully enclosed, not just divided by panels, which gave us a real sense of privacy and peace while still letting us enjoy the fresh air and harbor views. What we also liked was how modern and smartly designed the room setup was. You could easily control all the lights and switches from any part of the room with a sleek touch display. It felt convenient and thoughtfully planned, adding a modern touch that made the room even more comfortable.

Culinary Experience
Breakfast
We always keep an eye on the breakfast at every hotel we stay in. At Anemi Hotel & Suites, breakfast is served from 7:30 am to 10:00 am, and it’s the perfect way to start your day in Paphos. Expect a fresh buffet spread with both continental and Cypriot favorites, think warm pastries, local cheeses, eggs, fruit, and good coffee. You can enjoy it in the bright indoor area or outside by the pool if you prefer a bit of morning sunshine.
Our breakfast experience was very nice. The breakfast hall was located in the hotel complex’s other building, just a short walk away. Once we entered, the staff kindly took our room number and welcomed us in. It was an all-you-can-eat buffet with a great variety of options, both international and local. There were freshly prepared egg dishes, meats, salads, and choices from sweet to savory. You could even make yourself a bowl of hot oatmeal. The coffee was decent, not the best we have had, but still enjoyable. There was plenty of seating, both indoors and outside by the pool, which made the whole breakfast experience relaxed and pleasant.

Elia Restaurant
The hotel’s Elia Restaurant is a highlight of any stay at Anemi Hotel & Suites. Led by Chef Marios Charalambous, it brings a modern twist to Mediterranean and Cypriot cuisine, using fresh local ingredients and seasonal produce. The atmosphere is relaxed yet elegant, perfect for a cozy dinner after a day by the beach. Expect beautifully plated dishes like grilled halloumi, local seafood, and inventive meze options, all paired with Cypriot wines and warm service. Whether you’re dining indoors or outside on the terrace, Elia captures the island’s flavors in a stylish, welcoming setting that feels both local and refined.
The restaurant is open daily from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, serving breakfast, lunch, and light bites throughout the day, with extended hours until 10:00 pm on Mondays. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, so you can drop by for a casual meal or unwind with something fresh after a swim. While reservations aren’t strictly required, it’s a good idea to book a table in advance if you plan to come in the evening or during busier times, it fills up quickly thanks to its great food and cozy vibe.
On our last day in Paphos, after checking out and while waiting for our taxi to the airport, we decided to grab lunch at the Elia Restaurant. We sat in the relaxed lounge area near the pool and ordered directly from the menu using a convenient QR code. The waiter brought everything straight to our table, including our beers, which made the whole experience easy and enjoyable. The food was tasty and freshly made. We had fried calamari and a halloumi sandwich, both of which were delicious and satisfying. It was a perfect and relaxed last meal in Cyprus before heading home.

What was great was that each pool lounger had a small table with a QR code and a table number, so that you could order food or drinks directly from your spot. The waiter brought everything straight to you, and you could pay by card or cash when your order arrived. It was simple, convenient, and perfect for a lazy afternoon by the pool.
Néma Culinary Simplicity
Néma sits right next to the main entrance of Anemi Hotel & Suites and is the kind of place you’ll want to linger. Led by Chef Marios Charalambous, it combines Italian and Mediterranean flavors in a fresh, creative way that still feels easy and unpretentious. You can choose to sit in the cozy indoor dining area or out on the lush terrace, surrounded by greenery and a laid-back vibe that’s perfect for slow lunches or sunset dinners. The menu focuses on light, flavor-packed dishes paired with carefully selected wines from the in-house expert, ideal for date nights, family dinners, or even lazy Sunday meals. Néma is open daily from 12:00 pm to 11:00 pm, and while walk-ins are welcome, it’s worth reserving a table in advance, especially for dinner. Whether you’re celebrating something special or just craving good food in a beautiful setting, Néma delivers that simple yet sophisticated Mediterranean magic.

On the second day, we also tried out the Nema Restaurant, which is basically part of the hotel but also a separate restaurant, so you don’t have to be staying at the hotel to go there. It was very nice, we didn’t make any reservations, but we managed to really get a table, and overall the experience was nice. The waiter took us to a table between two family gatherings, which wasn’t the best, but okay. The service was a little confusing at first. We ordered water from one waiter, then another waitress came and asked if we wanted drinks, but it was all sorted out. The food was nice; we got black ink pasta and a pizza, and it was a little bit like fancier dining, but it was really worth stopping to try. Kipos
Kipos, the terrace café, is one of those spots that instantly makes you slow down and smile. Perched on the hotel’s rooftop terrace, it’s surrounded by passionfruit vines, jasmine, and views that stretch all the way to the sea, the kind of place that feels made for sunsets. Open throughout the day, Kipos serves casual meals, brunch, and afternoon tea, along with cocktails and small bites once the sun dips lower. It’s perfect for everything from a relaxed coffee catch-up to an evening drink under the stars. The décor is elegant yet simple, full of soft colors and natural touches that make it feel like a little garden in the sky. In the evenings, the terrace glows with cozy lights and a laid-back vibe, making it one of the best places in Paphos to unwind with friends or toast to another beautiful Cypriot sunset. Reservations aren’t usually needed, but for special brunch or themed events, it’s worth booking ahead.
Serene Cocktail Lounge
We were really looking forward to checking out the Serene Cocktail Lounge on the roof at Anemi Hotel & Suites. According to the hotel’s website, it boasts 360-degree sea and city views and a cocktail menu crafted by an in-house mixologist using seasonal ingredients. Unfortunately, the lounge had already closed for the season by the time we arrived (this spot runs mostly through July to September), so we couldn’t enjoy that sundowner with a drink in hand and the city stretching out beneath us. But if you’re visiting during the peak season, we’d definitely recommend you save the lounge for one of your evenings. It looks like a perfect place for a relaxed sunset drink.
Facilities and Services
Althaea Spa
The Althaea Spa is a place where you feel the world slow down the moment you step in. Designed for guests aged 16 and over, it’s a peaceful sanctuary focused on relaxation and rejuvenation. You’ll find everything you need to unwind: a heated indoor pool, a steam-filled sauna, and a calm zen lounge area perfect for resting between treatments. The spa menu includes massages, facials, and indulgent body rituals, all aimed at melting away stress and recharging both body and mind. Whether you’re craving a full pamper day or just a quiet hour to yourself, Althaea Spa delivers that luxurious escape that makes you forget about everything else for a while.

SÓMA Gym
The gym at Anemi Hotel & Suites has been upgraded into a full-fledged fitness studio, so you really can stick to your routine while on vacation. It’s tucked away in Block A, right next to the wellness area, and accessible daily from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. The space is modern, clean, and packed with gear: free weights, strength machines, cardio equipment (treadmills, bikes, ellipticals), and plenty of space for stretching or body-weight workouts. It’s for guests aged 16 and above only. You won’t need a formal reservation to use it. It’s free for in-house guests during its opening hours. Just pop in, check you’ve got proper gym attire and sneakers, grab a towel and water, and you’re good to go.
On our first day, we also tried out the summer gym at the Anemi Hotel. It is free to enter and follows the usual gym rules. We had the whole place to ourselves for our forty-minute workout, which was great. The gym has enough equipment and machines for a solid basic workout, from cardio to strength training. The only thing we would change would be the exercise mat, which looked a bit too used, so we skipped floor exercises. Apart from that, the space was clean, bright, and comfortable, perfect for keeping up your fitness routine while on holiday.

Pool Area
We really loved the pool area at Anemi Hotel & Suites. It features a large outdoor pool with plenty of sunbeds, and it is well-maintained. Each sunbed had a table next to it, and you could order drinks or food directly from your spot, which made pool time extra relaxing. Complimentary towels are provided, so you don’t need to worry about bringing your own. The poolside bar was open for most of the day, and the whole area was a perfect chill zone for our stay.

Outside, there is also a lovely sitting and lounge area where you can just relax and enjoy the calm atmosphere. We really appreciated this space on our last day after checking out while waiting for our flight. It was super nice and very comfortable, with plenty of sockets to charge your phone and the option to order food and drinks directly to your seat. Whether you call it a chilling zone or a waiting lounge, it was a great spot to unwind, enjoy the last bit of sunshine, and end our stay at Anemi on a relaxed note.

Value for Money
We stayed at Anemi Hotel & Suites in Paphos from 23 to 26 October 2025, and our three-night stay came to €576.78. It’s definitely on the slightly more expensive side compared to other hotels in the area, but for us, it was worth it. We wanted a place to unwind, slow down, and enjoy a bit of comfort after weeks of travel and Anemi delivered exactlythat. Between the stylish rooms, great breakfast, and relaxing pool area, it felt like the perfect mini getaway. If you’re after a budget stay, this might not be the one, but if you value comfort, design, and a peaceful atmosphere, it’s greatvalue for what you get.
In terms of value for money, you really get a lot. At check-in, we even received coupons for a 15 percent discount at the Nema Restaurant and 20 percent off the spa, though we only managed to try the restaurant. It was a bit of a shame that the rooftop bar was already closed for the season and that the late checkout option was only confirmed at 10 a.m., which made planning our last morning tricky. Still, overall, the stay was relaxing, comfortable, and a lovely end to our time in Cyprus.
Before our stay, we tried reaching out to the hotel with a few questions, but unfortunately, we never got a reply. It’s a bit of a shame, if we’d had something urgent to clarify, it would’ve been important for them to respond. Thankfully, our questions were not as pressing; still, it would be nice to have acknowledged the email. Just be aware that you might not get an answer.
Verdict
★★★★☆
Our stay at Anemi Hotel & Suites turned out to be exactly what we needed, calm, stylish, and easy. It’s one of those places that manages to feel both upscale and relaxed, where you can spend the day exploring Paphos and come back to unwind by the pool or enjoy dinner without leaving the property. The design, friendly staff, and location make it a great choice for couples or anyone looking for a more polished stay in the heart of Kato Paphos. It might not be the cheapest option in town, but if you’re after comfort, convenience, and that boutique feel, Anemi is a solid pick.
