In the small town of Železniki, Slovenia, the charming Kapelica (little chapel) stands as a quiet reminder of the region’s deep faith and long ironworking tradition. Železniki was once the heart of Carniola’s iron industry. During the 18th and 19th centuries, chapels like this were built to provide protection for miners and smiths, offering them a place to pray before and after their demanding work. A fascinating detail is that Železniki is home to one of the largest preserved blast furnaces in Europe, dating back to 1826, a proud symbol of its ironmaking past. On his visit, loborosh decided to leave behind a penguin stone near the chapel, a little guardian blending whimsy with history, waiting for the next curious traveler to spot it.
